Been a while since I last blogged, too busy with work and coordinating orders recently. But hey, here I am haha!

Just a brief background on what this kit is all about:

This limited edition kit can only be purchased by watching the Special Screening of Gundam Unicorn Episode 5: Black Unicorn. Bandai however released several photos of this kit way before Episode 5 was shown in Theaters, thus creating hype and excitement. My friends were eager to visit the Special Screening not because of the movie, but because of this kit. We've read posts that other countries sold these kits after the movie and we prayed hard for it. Our prayers were answered. Big thanks to my buddies Romeo and Bryan for securing a box for me, I couldn't make it to the Special Screening coz I had meet-ups with customers that day.

The kit costs 1,600 Philippine Pesos which is equivalent to the following currencies approximately to give you an idea if your local seller is at the right price:

37 U.S. / Australian Dollars

2050 Indian Rupees

117 Malaysian Ringgits

290 Hong Kong Dollars

The kit is similar to the HGUC 1/144 Sinanju Red Comet Sparkle which was released last year, October 2011. Honestly: that kit didn't catch my attention despite my undying fanaticism of the RX-0 Unicorn and Sinanju, Filipino's called it the Sinanju "Toothpaste". Things changed now, I'm gonna hunt for those older kits haha! On with the photos!

Will post photos of the masking process of the kit next time and possible issues you might encounter while building your own. This might be one hell of a bloody masking challenge since all the stickers were intended for the details... But overall: I love this kit, Gundam Unicorn Series fans would not be disappointed! ^^

Ka Final Battle2012 is shaping up to be a great year for Bandai. Started out with the MG HeavyArms EW (which should be out today in Japan by now), followed by awesome RG Add-ons, specifically, the RG SkyGrasper and GrandSlam Hobby Japan freebie.

The HGUC Banshee DT-Mode and Unicorn Mode was just released this January. Guess what? Bandai didn't wait long enough and announced the MG 1/100 Banshee kit for a March 2012 Release.

Great right? Although I could hear the wails and cries of Gunpla collectors/modellers who just purchased the HG versions. But Bandai did not stop there, behold, the MG 1/100 Banshee Ver. Ka Final Battle:

The kit would be available from the Bandai Pro Hobby Online Shop. A few notes about this kit from what i've researched so far:

This version may not have the Armed Armor VN and Armed Armor BS that the MG 1/100 Banshee OVA version has. [unconfirmed]

The pscyhoframe would be a blue/green color, indicating that the Banshee's full power mode may be similar to the Unicorn Full Armor.

As shown in the 3rd photo, the kit may have a Light-up or LED feature [unconfirmed]. Read this from a post in Tomopop.

Kit may not be available outside Japan. [unconfirmed]

March 2012 Release, simultaenously with the OVA version? Its anyone's guess at this point.

Details are quite sketchy at this point, but rest assured that I would keep a VERY close eye on this kit, since i'm a die-hard Unicorn fan. Thanks for viewing!
Now that I'm on full throttle to finish the kit, I decided to conduct a little experiment and see for myself. But before that, a little Painting 101:

Primers such as Tamiya's Fine Surface Primer (available in Gray and White) improves the part's cohesion with the paint. Priming parts is not required since the paint would still stick to the part, but priming gives extra "strength" to the paint.

Sanding the part prior to priming is critical though for best results.

Base Coats allows you to change the saturation (shade). See the photos below:

However, I have a can of TS Blue and TS Brilliant Blue and decided to try them out, here's the results:

As far as I can see, non-Metallic Colors like the Blue and Brilliant Blue did not change regardless what Base Coat I used, where as the Racing Blue's saturation changed drastically as the Base Coat got darker. In short, Metallic Colors gets the most benefit out of Base Coats.

Still didn't find the perfect blue for my kit but I would try other Tamiya Blue paints such as:

French Blue

Metallic Blue

Light Blue

Mica Blue

Telefonica Blue

Deep Metallic Blue

Light Metal Blue

Now I believe what I've read for the past year that Blue is one of the toughest colors to use in Gunpla modelling. Check out Tamiya's Synthetic Lacquer TS and Acrylic XF Paint Color Charts!

ZeroFour Gundamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12973360939700348307noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5024325486980627947.post-19712347355673072702012-01-08T10:58:00.000-08:002012-01-08T10:58:29.130-08:00MG QanT Snapbuild Complete!Done with snapbuilding the kit. Checked out parts for detailing and which parts to be extra careful with or consider (paint scratches!). Tried my Bandai LEDs too. Some of my thoughts below, but photos first:

Kit Pros:

Articulation, one of the strongest points of 00 kits as far as I know.

near zero seamlines, Bandai manufactured the kit with that in mind, you hardly need your cement for this guy

sleek and sexy, the QanT's appearance gives me a humanoid-like impression, design is quite unique for me

LEDs! one of the few MG kits with LEDs. Well they're Setsuna suits and the GNX anyway...

Kit Cons:

Spent 15-20mins making him hold his sword, the peg ain't strong enough and the other peg that attaches to the forearm does not really help much!

Backpack is kinda loose, maybe because of the humongous shield's weight? Gotta fix that...

White parts on the side skirt keep on falling off!

Would start the grueling sanding process next week, gotta work tomorrow night, and I don't have my decals too yet so I better chill for a while. Thanks for viewing!

ZeroFour Gundamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12973360939700348307noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5024325486980627947.post-50765619911770364592012-01-07T12:30:00.000-08:002012-01-07T12:30:54.216-08:00HG 00 Raiser ANA X Gundam Sky ProjectFinally, a chance to snap some photos. So here I am, starting off with the QanT. My own Full Saber add-on would be arriving anytime so I figured this would be the best choice to kick-start the year. I already had an MG QanT WIP but for some reason I cannot finish it, nor do I have the will/determination to do so, so I got myself a fresh MG QanT kit hehe.

What is the best way to build and paint a kit? Paint then build it? Or build, paint then rebuild?

Well here's my approach: I snap-build the kit first. I check out which parts are covered and does not need to be painted/detailed and which parts I could modify or detail. I also take note of which parts I should be very careful with. I know this is time consuming but it saves me some paint if I follow this process (and Tamiya cans aint cheap mind you).

Managed to build the head and body unit yesterday, and I'm on Rest Day today so I would build like mad hehe.
Shoot... Can't paint the Clear pieces for the GN Condensers. I settled for the legs and built them. Just like with the HG RX-0 Unicorn ANA kit, Bandai's efforts in terms of hiding/minimizing nubs are evident. Although some can't be avoided, I still think Bandai made a superb job.

Built the legs, waist and applied the ANA decals, check them out:

Gundam 00 kits have superb articulation thanks to simple parts like the waist. The 00 Raiser for example do not have skirt parts which could hamper thigh articulation, like Seed kits.

I'm sure most of you now have their respective Christmas hauls with them. Exactly 1h 9mins from December 25, I decided to build my 2nd HG ANA kit. My wish came true when I got this guy, I have the RX, 00 Raiser and RX-0 now in my possession. Although i'm still thinking hard if I want to get the HG RX-78 ANA for the sake of uniformity (1/144 scale).
Prolly because of the Christmas season? Regardless of what the occassion is: collectors like me would always find time and funds to secure their desired items (now that Christmas Bonus is out and teasing me like a devil haha!).

I'm also worried and scared. The photo below is a proof that i've extended my interests beyond Gunpla, which means extra strain to my finances. Here are my hauls for the month of November:

Yes you're right, THREE RUNNERS for the Gatling Gun. Darn you Bandai, the value of the Gatling Guns are now down the drain because of this. People like me who searched high and low for the Gatling Guns can only bury their faces on their hands. Congratulations to those who do not have these yet, now's your chance...
Thanks to all who waited patiently for them. I have to admit, the MG Sandrock did tickle my fancy. There's a lot of room for paint customization, not to mention the Heat Shotels. I'm such a sucker for suits with big-ass weapons. Can't wait for Sunday, time to hangout with my buddies again and spend the morning/afternoon having fun. Some photos:
Started this wallet-wringing hobby August this year. After countless hours of searching with my ever-trusty friend, Google, and asking loads of questions from experienced collectors/sellers, I managed to streamline which figures I would collect. I learned that figure-collecting is WAYYY different than gunpla. Here's why:

1. When a company (Alter, AlphaMax, MegaHouse etc.) announces a figure, which could be several months ahead or even a year, retailers/resellers opens a preorder list. Once its closed then that's it. Gunpla does not work that way, you have all the time in the world to think, check reviews, and save money to get the kit you desire. Figure collectors do not have that kind of luxury. Think fast, make your wallet ready and place a preorder. If you miss the boat, then securing that figure would be quite difficult, not to mention possibly more pricey compared to a preorder because figure companies mostly manufactures a specific set number of that product. Add the fact that if the figure was rated top-notch, then prices would sky-rocket.

2. Opening the box lowers the value. If you are the buy and sell type, then don't dare open the box. A MISB (mint-in-sealed-box) commands a higher price compared to a MIB (mint-in-box) fig.

3. Dust proof cabinets IS A MUST. If your figure starts to eat dust then cleaning could prove to be fatal for the paint finish of the figure because you would have to clean it. I was even concerned that the heat here in the Philippines might "melt" the fig or something, but Otakai (a fig-collecting forum here in the Philippines) veterans confirmed that keeping them in an air-conditioned room is not essential. Whew...
These images came from GundamGuy's blog. As far as I can see, the FA Unicorn variation is well worth your money. Some questions I have in my head though:

1. Will it have the OVA or Ver. Ka articulation? I damn hope that it has the OVA articulation, even better please!
2. How about an Action Base? or is it just the stand-like things for the fuel tanks?
3. MG Hi-Nu/Strike Freedom Full Burst Mode like box? or MG Sinanju size like box? As seen in the All-Japan Hobby Show?
Both participants agreed to post their WIPs and would be categorized as a friendly contest.

They would both work on a Master Grade Bandai MSA-0011 [Ext] EX-S Gundam. Both participants have experience painting their kits with their ever-trusty airbrushes so its something I would definitely watch out for.

Stay tuned for updates!
I must admit, I've had far too many questions about this kit compared to the Epyon or DeathScythe Hell. I don't think December would be the release date though, considering the fact that Bandai announced that the MG Full Armor Unicorn would roll out on that month.

January 2012 perhaps? As Bandai's new year present to Gunpla fanatics? Waiting game begins...

Edit:

And yes, it would be released in January 2012 as GG's blog states... Fast forward to January pleaseee? XD

And I almost spewed out my coffee...

Why? Here's the story:

Getting your hands on a pair of MG Unicorn Gatling Guns proved not only difficult, but costly as well. Can't find one when I was in Japan. If it was released today for example, I visited my supplier tomorrow only to find out it went out of stock in a single day.

Secured 2 pairs for a total cost of 1600 php. Bloody expensive for just 2 weapon pieces. I had no choice, the Unicorn and Sinanju look dull and "green" without them. It adds a certain bad-ass element to the kit. Great, can't believe it. That was back in March.

Seeing this image infuriated me. Not only did it wreck the value of the add-on, it pissed people like me who spent cash on these suckers. I'm sure people who have plans to buy the Unicorn FA (this December) and does not have Gats would be glad like hell... That spear-axe thingy looks awesome though, I wonder what sort of gimmicks Bandai has in store for us with that particular piece.

Credits to Renan Salumbre for sharing this image to me!ZeroFour Gundamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12973360939700348307noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5024325486980627947.post-10240160839234913272011-09-19T18:32:00.000-07:002011-09-19T18:34:22.426-07:00September Stocks are here!Selling Gunpla ain't an easy task. There's a whole lot of things to consider, some of the toughest would be stocks, yen/php conversion and shipping. Not to mention dealing with customers, each and everyone is unique in their own way. I do love what i'm doing though, can't say its about the moolah (try to convert each box's SRP to php and add shipping to it LOL), its about the hobby, its about the friends I gained since February.

Been thinking if I finally need to turn the notch all the way up. I have a good job which is kinda hard to let go, considering that the Gunpla business is not 100% stable. I can't do both at the same time, I would have to choose one and cross my fingers everything's okay, or just keep things the way they are. Will see come this November hehe when negotiations would finally take place.

Some might ask where are the MG Gundam 00 Seven Sword/G boxes, well they should be here soon enough if things would be smooth sailing.

Thanks a lot to those who waited, and see you on Sunday! :)
Countless movies and productions were made hoping to topple the magic 300 had, but nothing comes close to Spartacus. It had loads of violence, stunts, and of course, a healthy dose of women in it, not to mention erotic scenes. Spartacus made me sit back in front of the TV after several months.

The protagonist, Andy Whitfield, died today, no thanks to non-Hodgkin lymphoma. He was geared up for Season 2 when he was diagnosed and had to undergo treatment. Season 2 for me is not up to par with the first. Although Season 2 helped answer questions on why is this and that, Season 1 is still way better.

Now that Andy's gone, will Liam McIntyre manage to satisfy hard-core Spartacus fanatics like me? We'll see, but one thing's for sure, nobody can replace Andy's portrayal of Spartacus... Rest in Peace sir, thanks for the awesome acting, and may the gods of the arena be with you...
